Maria Pugnetti works as a lighting, sound and projection designer and has served as a technical consultant, touring technical director and guest teacher for theatre companies in and around Southern Vermont for the last 6 years. She has worked closely with New England Youth Theatre, Sandglass Theater, and the Vermont Performance Lab.
In 2011 she co-founded a theatre company called Firekeeper Productions. Together with her collaborators she co-wrote and produced a multimedia, acrobatic musical production titled The Mabel Story. Pugnetti wrote the music and served as the creative director constructing many of the costumes and scenic designs.
Pugnetti has a passion for shadow theater and puppetry. She completed the Sandglass Puppetry Intensive and attended a Shadow Puppetry Intensive Training with Stephen Kaplin. In 2014 she received a seed grant from the Jim Henson Foundation for her project The Red Shoes.
